I was talking to my Dad reciently about what to do next year and he suggested something that he did back when he was 20 and that was to go and work for the Camp Counselor Sheme in America. You basically go and work on a one of those American summer camps that you see on telly all the time, for 9 or so weeks, then you get paid about $1000 when you finish and get to do a month of travelling around America before flying back home. If there is anyone reading this thats done it before could please fill me in a little bit about that as I don't know if you just get a months worth of Greyhound ticket or if it's all planned out for you.
I thought it would be a nice way to spend the summer (especially if I get asigned to one in the warmer parts of America) and I also get to see a months worth of travelling of the US. However I do still have to be picked for it (a bit like applying for university) so I really need to spruce up on my rock climbing and maybe even go and do a lifesaving course as you get paid a little more for that.
My Dad went to Philmont in New Mexico, which is the largest Scout camp in the world so it would be good to get to work there, but so I'm told, its only the best of the best that go there and my Dad just got lucky so that might not be an option :(
PeaceOut!
And please if anyone has more info about this then could you let me know
THANKS!
